Dr.-Ing. Hany Elgendy (* 1969), since 2008 owner and managing director of the planning office ProRaum Consult in Karlsruhe. Until December 2011 he was Senior Assistant at ETH Zurich. He was also a research assistant and lecturer at the Universities of Karlsruhe (1998-2008) and Ain-Shams in Cairo (1991-1998). He is a member of the International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP) and the “Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Baden-Württemberg” and the Academy of Spatial Research and Planning (ARL). He led the working group “Sustainable Land Management” there. For more than 15 years, the topic of “Sustainable Land Management” has been a focal point of his work. With the project family Raum + in Switzerland and Germany, the settlement area reserves could be determined in about 1000 municipalities.
